So it begins
Here it goes: my first official post as a "blogger."
Now, I know what you're thinking: Yes! Finally, someone who will do something about the opinion shortage on the internet! What can I say - I'm just here to do my part.
Why start a blog? It's not because I expect that many people will read it. It's more just a place for me to process some of the thoughts and ideas jostling for space in my head; a form of mental spring cleaning. If others end up reading and enjoying it, that's great - but, truth be told, I'm mostly doing this for fun (and the money).

For now, the plan isn't to hold forth on any topic in particular, but generally to mull over the stuff that I'm currently reading (though some of my favourite movies may sneak in there, too). Books are kind of a big deal to me; they always have been. Maybe it goes with the territory of being an introvert (hence the blog name: literature + introvert = litrovert. See what I did there?). See the example of my perfect evening below:
When it comes to books, in my teen years I found myself mostly drawn to fantasy and fiction of various kinds, but when I hit my twenties I developed a voracious appetite for non-fiction, specifically history, almost overnight (more on that in the next post). Here, I plan on reflecting mostly on the history I'm currently reading or have read in recent years. I have three reasons for this:
1. It will help me remember more of what I read (turns out, a lot of stuff has happened in history - who knew?)
2. It will help me make sense of what I read.
3. It may be interesting for someone else to read (OK, so this one's a long shot, but go big or go home, right?)
4. The word 'read' in numbers 1 and 2 is intended to be understood in the present tense, as in, You should read the instructions before assembling your new dishwasher, not the past tense as in, Yes, I read them, but I still ended up mangling myself and destroying my plumbing and now I live in a tree.
5. Yes, this is now five items, but it's really easy to get 'three' and 'five' confused.
Anyways, if you're reading this, thanks for joining me. And if you're not reading this, congratulations - you have found a better way to spend your time. Or you're watching cat videos on Youtube. There really are some fantastic cat videos out there.
